NVIDIA Out in Force at Supercomputing 16

Over the past few centuries, nothing has done more to make lives better than science. And over the past few decades, supercomputing has emerged as a key tool for pushing science forward.

It’s why our CEO — Jen-Hsun Huang — will headline our presence at next week’s SC16 annual supercomputing show at Salt Lake City, Utah, an event that draws 14,000 researchers, national lab directors and others from around the world.

Jen-Hsun will kick off our presence at the show on Monday at 7:30pm MT with an appearance at the NVIDIA Theater we’ve set up at our booth on the show floor. Over the course of the week, our theater will be the setting for talks from more than a dozen supercomputing experts.

Demos: DIGITS 5 a Highlight

Our booth will also be packed with demos from NVIDIA and our partners.

One highlight: NVIDIA DIGITS 5. The latest version of our deep learning training system introduces image segmentation workflows enabling data scientists to train deep neural networks to partition images into regions such as tumors from healthy tissue, and buildings and cars from free space.

Hands-on Help, Deep Learning Training

You’ll also be able to stop by our in-booth Developer Zone to speak with an NVIDIA expert or take a free hands-on lab and learn the latest GPU programming tips and tricks for deep learning, debugging and more.

Through the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute — which we created to teach the world how to solve problem with a new generation of machines that perceive the world as we do, understand our language and learn from examples — we’ll also be hosting an afternoon of deep learning training on Tuesday, from 1 to 5 pm at the Peery Hotel, a short walk away from the convention center.

Attend Panels on Deep Learning, Exascale Computing

Beyond our booth and our event at the Peery Hotel, panels will explore the ways supercomputing and science intersect.

  • On Tuesday at 3 pm, Jack Wells, from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, will lead a discussion titled “HPC: The Catalyst for the Next Wave of Scientific Innovation” with researchers from Sandia National Lab, Los Alamos National Lab and the Southern California Supercomputer Center that highlights the importance of efforts to build exascale supercomputers to make new scientific advancements.
  • And on Wednesday at 4 pm, deep learning will be the focus of a discussion by panelists from Baidu, the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Swiss National Supercomputing Center.
